Pankaj Saran remembers Zaglul

The Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh has mourned the demise of senior journalist and eminent columnist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury whi died in a road accident in Dhaka on Saturday night. ‘This has dealt a cruel blow to Bangladesh’s media fraternity and to one of its preeminent figures,’ Pankaj Saran said in a message on Sunday. Zaglul, 65, the Consulting Editor of The Financial Express, succumbed to his injuries in Green Road’s Comfort Hospital last night after he fell off a moving bus in Karwan Bazar’s Sonargaon Hotel Intersection around 8:30pm on Sunday. The envoy said Chowdhury had a long association with India. ‘His reporting and writings on India displayed not only intimate knowledge but also passion and empathy’. ‘His contribution to journalism and his qualities as a human being will remain alive forever,’ added Saran, according to a news agency.
