Parts of country face scorching heat

Dhaka is enduring an intense heatwave, with relentless high temperatures and elevated humidity making life unbearable for its residents.
For three consecutive days, the city's inhabitants have faced scorching heat.
According to the Meteorological Office, moderate heat is sweeping across all divisions and is expected to continue for the next three days.
However, rainfall may occur in few parts of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions in next twenty four hours starting from Friday morning, it said.
On Friday, Netrakona recorded the country's highest temperature at 38.5°C, while the minimum temperature of 24.8°C was logged in Bandarban.
In Dhaka, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.8°C, but due to high humidity levels of 61 per cent, it felt like 43-47°C throughout the day.
The monsoon is less active over Bangladesh, with weak to moderate activity over the North Bay. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay and adjoining areas within the next three days.
The excessive heat is posing a significant risk to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, outdoor workers, and those with chronic health conditions.
Health complaints include headaches, coughs, diarrhea, dengue fever have increased in last two days.
In Dhaka, even air conditioners are struggling to provide relief. The oppressive heat and humidity have paralysed daily life, with many residents either falling ill or choosing to stay indoors.
Additionally, a severe water shortage is affecting many parts of the city, further compounding the challenges for residents.
The working class, including day laborers and rickshaw pullers are bearing the brunt of this heat wave, especially those who work outdoors.
