Pay Eid bonus before Ramadan 20: RMG workers
Saturday, 5 July 2014
Garment workers have reiterated that the owners of ready-made garment (RMG) factories pay bonuses for Eid-ul-Fitr festival and arrears before the 20th of Ramadan, the holy fasting month of the Muslims. The demands came at a rally in the city, addressed by the RMG workers’ leaders. The speakers alleged that many RMG owners in association with local miscreants are giving threat to garment workers’ leaders so that they cannot raise their voice demanding arrears and bonuses on the occasion of Eid. Chaired by Garment Workers’ Trade Union Centre president Sadekur Rahman Shamim, the rally was addressed, among others, by its general secretary Kazi Ruhul Amin, workers’ leaders KM Mito, Ziaul Kabir and Iqbal Hosain, according to a news agency.
