Paying VAT strengthens revenue earning for nat\\\'l uplift: speakers

Speakers at a post-rally discussion in Rangpur have called for inspiring the businesspersons and common consumers in paying value added tax (VAT) properly to strengthen revenue earning for accelerating national uplift. They stressed for creating mass awareness in paying VAT and other taxes by all concerned to turn Bangladesh into a middle income nation by 2021 as the country has been moving towards sustainable prosperity. Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate of Rangpur organised the discussion on the occasion of according reception to the highest VAT payers of Rangpur division at its conference room in the city in observance of the National VAT Day-2014. Earlier, led by Rangpur Divisional Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Md Mujibur Rahman, a big colourful rally, participated by officials and employees of the institution, paraded the city streets. With Mujibur Rahman in the chair, President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Alhaj Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu attended the programme as the chief guest. Joint Commissioner of Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Md Kamruzzaman delivered the welcome speech, according to BSS.
