Payment of govt portion of money for MPO listed teachers demanded

Saturday, 7 January 2012

Bangladesh Business Management (BM) College Principal Samity on Friday demanded immediate payment of government portion of the money for teachers and employees of MPO listed BM colleges, reports UNB.
Addressing a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU), the Samity leaders said that 721 teachers and employees of 154 BM colleges across the country, who were included in MPO in 2010, have been deprived of the government portion of money since then.
A total of 1540 colleges under Technical Education Board are providing business education. BM colleges are imparting HSC (BM) course at country's grassroots level for making skilled manpower and office employees.
They also demanded inclusion of names of teachers and officials in MPO, who were appointed as per Recruitment Act.
They said that they failed to realise their demand despite placing it to the Education Ministry and Technical Education Board (TEB) time and again.
They blamed the negative attitude of a section of officials of TEB in this connection.
Being deprived of the MPO facilities, they along with their family members are now passing hard time, which is also hampering the academic activities.
They made an fervent appeal to the authorities for fulfilling their demand, saying that they would be forced to go for tougher programme, including hunger strike, from February 1 if their demand remained unfulfilled until that time.
SM Monwar Hossain president of the Samity, general secretary Masudur Rahman, and organising secretary Badrul Alam Bidyut, among others, addressed the press conference.
