PBCP leader killed in shootout in Khulna

KHULNA, June 28 (BSS): A regional leader of the outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party was killed in a shootout between police and his accomplices in the Shantinagar area of village Thukra under Dumuria upazila in the district in the early hours of today.
Two police personnel were also injured in the incident.
The deceased Litu Sarder, 38, of village Thukra under Dumuria upazila in Khulna, was accused in at least 13 cases, including two murders.
Officer-in-Charge of Dumuria Police Station M Moshiur Rahman said Khulna DB police and Dumuria thana police jointly conducted a drive at the residence of Litu Sarder and arrested him at mid-night.
Acting on his confessional statement, police personnel took Litu to Shantinagar area of village Thukra to recover hidden arms and arrest his accomplices. When they reached the area, outlawed members of PBCP opened fire on the law enforcers who also returned the fire.
