Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) has demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for those responsible for the attack on CHT Commission, while strongly condemning the dastardly act.
Organization’s information and publicity secretary Mangal Kumar Chakma in a statement expressed concern over the attack allegedly carried out by an “ultra-communal organisation” of Bengali settlers in Rangamati, according to a news agency.
“PCJSS thinks those who do not want implementation of CHT peace accord and want the ongoing tension to continue to fulfill their vested interest are behind this attack.”
The CHT commission convoy came under attack in Rangamati Saturday. In a press conference in Chittagong, commission’s co-chairperson Sultana Kamal blamed an organisation called ‘Sama Odhikar’ for the attack.
In the attack, CHT commission member Ilora Dewan sustained head injuries while executive director of the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Iftekharuzzaman had a hand injury and their driver sustained throat injury.
