PDB implements power distribution system dev project in N-region

RAJSHAHI, March 12 (BSS): The Power Development Board (PDB) has been implementing a power distribution system development project in 10 district towns in the northwestern Bangladesh.
The main objective of the project is to improve power supply situation by reducing system loss and expansion of facilities for new consumers by rehabilitation, renovation and extension of the distribution networks in the area.
Official sources said that the project had been targeted to boost industrial, commercial and agricultural growth along with changing living standard as well as the lifestyle of urban people.
The six-year project titled "10-town power distribution system development" is being implemented in Rajshahi, Bogra, Joypurhat, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Gaibandha, Nilphamari and Thakurgaon district towns along with their surrounding industrial areas at a cost of around Tk 6.53 million with a foreign exchange component of Tk 3.07 million since 2003-04 fiscal.
Asian Development Bank (ADB), Nordic Development Fund and Norad have been providing the foreign loan.
Most of the physical and infrastructure works are on the final stage, sources added.
