Pedalling rickshaw on the Himalayas

Monday, 13 October 2014

A fascinating news published on 10th October was simply unbelievable, astounding and beyond imagination. Satyan Das, a rickshaw puller from Kolkata in West Bengal pedalled his rickshaw at an elevation of 17,600 feet above ground level to a high Himalayan mountain pass. Surprisingly, this was not his first time. Way back in 2008, he took his wife and daughter on a rickshaw and pedalled them along at the height of 13,050 feet on the Rohtang mountain pass in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Satyan Das did it all without any mountaineering equipment or protective clothing.
This is indeed a rare example of a fascinating fact of human courage, confidence and determination that should be known to the world. Such a unique example of courage and bravery shown by a simple rickshaw puller should be recognised and rewarded. I wish the media will cover more news about the adventure of an extraordinary man.
