Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Sunday peer inspection programme has improved the monitoring system on educational institutions which will directly enhance quality of education in the country, reports BSS.
"We have implemented the peer inspection programme aiming to improve further the standard of education," he told a function in the conference room of Directorate of Inspection and Audit (DIA).
Dr SM Wahiduzzaman of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education and senior officials of different relevant organisations addressed the function with DIA Director Prof Ahmed Sazzad Rashid in the chair.
Nahid said it is very difficult for DIA to inspect and monitor 36,000 educational institutions as it has limited manpower. Alongside monitoring and inspection of the DIA, the peer inspection system can play an important role in ensuring transparency and accountability of educational institutions, he added.
Under the peer system, he said, similar educational institutions will jointly inspect each other's schools, madrasas and colleges as well as share experiences and ideas for ensuring better functioning of their educational institutions.
The minister said the government has attached highest priority to increase professional skills through training programmes and providing other facilities in order to improve the quality of education.
