People little bothered about first president: Ershad

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Saturday said the people of the country have little headache over who had been the country's first president. Ershad made the comment while talking to local journalists after he had arrived at his Palli Nibash (residence) in the city on a five-day tour of his home district. About BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s claim that Ziaur Rahman was the first president of Bangladesh, Ershad said both Awami League and BNP would have to settle who had been the first president of the country. “But, I’ll refrain from making any comment about it,” according to a news agency.
