People lost confidence in govt: Shamsher

SYLHET: BNP vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury said Saturday the country’s overall security will be at stake if the ‘democratic system is not restored’.
“It’s not the government of people …people have no confidence in it …even the regime has lost its control over the administration,” he told reporters at his Mirer Maidan residence in the city, according to a news agency.
Referring to the recent seven abductions followed by murders in Narayanganj, the BNP leader said the gruesome incidents have taken place as the government has no control over the administration. “This is an example of ill-politics of the government.”
After the country’s independence, Rakkhi Bahini had emerged as a wild force that killed many freedom fighters. “It was a force of visible panic among people,“ said Shamsher Mobin, also a former foreign secretary.
“Now a ‘special’ force has been carrying out abductions, forced disappearances …its members are killing people brutally,” he alleged.
