People of 40 Chandpur villages celebrated Eid Friday

Holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in 40 villages of Chandpur district on Friday. Holy Eid-ul-Fitr is being observed in the rest of the country on Saturday. Several thousand people of 40 villages in Hajiganj, Faridganj, Matlab North, Kochua and Shahrasti upazilas have long been celebrating the Eid in line with the celebration of the festival in Saudi Arabia. Holy Eid-ul-Fitr is the greatest religious festival of Muslims. Maulana Abu Jofar Md Abdul Hye, eldest son as well as successor to Pir of Shadra Pak Darber Sharif, Morhum Maulana Md Ishaque, said that in line with the people of Saudi Arabia, thousands of devotees of these villages began fasting two days ahead of Bangladesh time and celebrated the Eid two days ahead this year. Eid–ul-Fitre was observed in Saudi Arabia on Friday and the people of these villages celebrated the Eid at the same time amid much enthusiasm and religious fervour, he added, according to a news agency.
