People opposing policies agents of autocrat: Inu

Thursday, 28 August 2014

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said Wednesday that people who do not want policies on different issues are agents of the autocrat, reports BSS.
"A certain quarter starts hue and cry whenever a policy is made for any sector," he said speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable discussion on 'Guidelines for Film Policy of Bangladesh' organised by Dhaka University (DU) Television and Film Studies Department.
The minister said those who do not abide by policies actually do not abide by the constitution too.
They oppose the policies with a political motive even without reading those, to take the country backward, he added.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the meeting as special guest while head of Television and Film Studies Department Prof. AJM Shafiqul Alam Bhuiyan was in the chair.
The information minister said Sheikh Hasina is leading the country towards democracy diverting from autocracy. Therefore, the government has to change and reform many things existing for last 50 to 60 years, he added.
He said Khaleda Zia opposed the broadcast policy without going through it.
A man or woman who believes in communalism cannot accept anything good and Begum Zia has this problem, he observed.
The information minister urged Khaleda Zia to read the policies and make constructive criticisms without opposing it for the sake of opposition.
He said a draft film policy has been prepared and it would be finalised in consultation with the stakeholders.
Inu said the country is now fighting against poverty, natural calamities, gender disparity and militancy. The films would have to join this war against these four enemies, he added.
The government is extending all cooperation to the film sector to build the country based on the spirit of Liberation War and this cooperation would be continuing.
Prof Arefin Siddique said the spirit of Liberation War should be reflected in every policy.
