People really want change of govt: Fakhrul

The people of the country from the bottom of their hearts really want to see the change of the incumbent government, said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday.
"The youth of the country should be united to remove the present government that has been in power by force," he opined at a commemorative discussion on late Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury at the National Press Club in the capital.
"Now time is short. So, let us be united and continue our struggle against the government. Our victory is certain."
He said he does not have any taste to reply to the comments of the ruling Awami League leaders.
"The people of the country are repeatedly calling upon the government to quit power. People don't want them anymore. But the government has been in power by force."
"Late Dr Jafrullah protested this. He had a goal to remove this fascist government and establish a government of the people," Mirza Fakhrul stated.
"The nation will always remember Dr Jafarullah. He served for the welfare of the people. He left us, but kept his ideology for us."
"Let us be united to save the country and the nation, imbued with the spirit of the War of Liberation," he added.
President of Nagorik Oikkya Mahmudur Rahman Manna said the opponent parties are now united.
The prices of essential commodities are now the highest of the last 12 years, he added.
President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) A S M Abdur Rab said, "This fascist government must be ousted. The very existence of the country is now on the verge of danger."
"I call upon all to come and to be united to oust those who are trying to remain in power by selling the country's independence and sovereignty. Whatever blood is needed, we are ready to provide it," he added.
Convener of Bhasani Followers Council and freedom fighter Sheikh Rafiqul Islam presided over the discussion. It was also addressed by chairman of a faction of Jatiya Party Mostofa Jamal Haider, general secretary of Biplobi Workers Party Saiful Haque, and chief coordinator of Gono Songhoti Andolon Jonaid Saki.
