Tuesday, 4 August 2015

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said on Monday legal action will be taken against those involved in the Jubo League factional clash in Magura that killed a person and left an expecting mother and her baby inside the womb wounded by bullets, reports UNB.
"The culprits will be brought to book, no matter how powerful they are," he said while talking to reporters after he visited the injured mother and her baby at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
"You have seen that law enforcers have already arrested some people involved in the incident", the minister said.
A seven-month expecting mother, Nazma Begum (30), her uncle-in-law Momin Bhuiyan (65), and another man Miraz (30) suffered bullet injuries as they were caught in the line of fire during a clash between two groups of Jubo League over establishing supremacy at Doarpara in Magura Sadar upazila on the evening of July 23.
They were taken to Sadar Hospital where Nazma gave birth to a baby through caesarean section on that night. It was found after the birth that the newborn also suffered bullet wounds while in the womb.
Momin Bhuiyan succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on July 25.
Later, the baby of Nazma was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital on July 25.
On July 28, the DMCH authorities formed an eight-member medical team for the proper treatment of the newborn.
On July 30, the newborn was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the DMCH and mother Nazma was taken to her baby at the DMCH on the same day.
A case was filed against 16 people with Magura Sadar thana on July 26.
Four people have so far been arrested in connection with the incident.
