People return to normal activities

RAJSHAHI, Dec 30 (BSS): People have returned to their normal activities as the holiday and festive mood ended with the holding of the Monday's parliamentary election in the northern districts, including the Rajshahi city.
Different modes of vehicles have been plying since morning after the lifting of the ban on plying of vehicles.
Meanwhile, people of different professions appreciated the present government as well as the election commission for holding the 9th Jatiya Sangsad election in free, fair and credible manners and expected that a sound democratic government would be installed soon.
Talking to the news agency they said people were very keen to get such kind of election and they gave their verdict spontaneously along with a huge turnout of female voters.
"The elected government will obviously work on basis of the people's need," said Professor Anwarul Islam, a retired college- teacher of Haragram area in the city.
According to the unofficial results, in Rajshahi division, out of total of 72 seats Awami League-led Mohajote bagged 63 seats including 14 of Jatiya Party, BNP-led four-party alliance scored eight seats including five in Bogra and the rest one was captured by an independent candidate in Naogaon. While in the 2001 election, the four-party alliance clinched 49 seats followed by JP with 14 seats and AL bagged nine seats.
