People returning home safely, claims Quader

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday claimed that he was 90 per cent successful in ensuring safe journey of the homebound people ahead of the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr. ‘Compared to other years, people can travel on the highways with ease,’ he said while talking to reporters after visiting Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Chandana Chourasta in Gazipur district at noon. However, he regretted any sufferings that people had to undergo on the highways during their journey home to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Eid with the near and dear ones. Claiming that the condition of the highways is improving gradually, he said, ‘It can’t be changed overnight.’ The communication boss also expressed his hope that the people’s Eid journeys will be more safe and smoother next year, according to a news agency.
