FE REPORT
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Thursday avowed that the people of the country would resist the ruling Awami League from holding another episode of the elections staged in 2014 and 2018.
"You (PM Sheikh Hasina) couldn't hold onto power by holding another election like the ones stage-managed in 2014 and 2018," BNP vice-chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said at a human chain programme.
The 'Save the Country Save the People Movement' organised the event outside the National Press Club for immediate release of the party's chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and allowing her to receive advanced treatment abroad.
In an another development, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) alleged that overenthusiastic detective officials started arresting Chhatra Dal leaders amid the ongoing anti-government movement.
JCD acting president Rashed Iqbal Khan made the remarks at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
