Saturday, 21 March 2009

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Quader has urged the people to increase country's image abroad as a country of natural beauty, voting for the Cox's Bazar sea beach and the Sundarbans to be named two of the 'New 7 Wonders of Nature', reports UNB.
Foreigners know Bangladesh as a country of natural disaster or political turmoil despite its tremendous natural beauty, he said adding that the foreign tourists do not feel encouraged to visit Bangladesh for lack of proper campaign projecting the country's natural beauties.
Quader made the remarks while inaugurating a rally organised by 'Golden Bangladesh', a social organisation, as part of a campaign to encourage people to vote for the Cox's Bazar sea beach and the Sundarbans.
He said the government would launch a campaign to encourage people to vote for the Cox's Bazar sea beach and the Sundarbans as New Wonders of Nature. "Simultaneously, the tourist spots would be preserved so that the tourists can enjoy the beauty of nature."
The rally, with the participants carrying colourful banners, festoons and posters inscribed with slogans "Vote for Cox's Bazar", "Vote for Sundarbans", started from in front of the Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University at 11:30 am and ended at the Jatiya Press Club in the city.
The 'New 7 Wonders of Nature' will be selected through online voting. Online voters across the globe can choose from 77 official nominees for the new seven wonders of nature - an initiative of 'The New 7 Wonders Foundation'.
