People won't tolerate anarchy in name of politics: Nasim

Tuesday, 6 July 2010

Former home minister and Awami League central leader Mohammad Nasim Monday blasted the opposition for their anti-people activities, saying that the countrymen will no more tolerate such activities in the name of politics, reports BSS.
"In the name of hartal, setting fire to and ransacking public property as well as creating disorder and anarchy cannot be democratic politics," he said while addressing a protest rally at Murgitola in the old part of the city.
Sutrapur Thana Awami League arranged the rally protesting the killing of transport worker Faruq by pro-hartal activists of BNP.
With Sutrapur Thana AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi in the chair, the rally was addressed, among others, by local parliament member Mizanur Rahman Dipu, city AL leaders Abdul Haque Sabuj, MA Karim, Hedayetul Islam Swapan and Jafrullah Sardar.
In the name of the people, Nasim said, there is no scope for doing misdeeds as the people will no more allow such activities and they will give a befitting reply.
"Demands have also been raised by the people, who want welfare of the nation and country, to ban anti-people hartal by framing a new law," he added.
Nasim said the BNP-Jamaat clique is engaged in deep- rooted conspiracies to weaken the present government as well as to protect the identified war criminals by creating anarchy and disorder in the country.
He called upon the pro-liberation forces to build up a united resistance against the anti-liberation forces.
After the rally, leaders and workers of city Awami League met with family members of Faruq, a taxi driver who succumbed to burn injuries after pro-hartal activists set fire to his taxicab on June 26 night.
Meanwhile, Awami Sechchhasebak League today announced a countrywide rally and procession on July 7 protesting the opposition's anti-people activities including anarchy, terrorism and setting fire to people and public property and also demanding trial of the war criminals.
The programmes were announced at a protest rally on Bangabandhu Avenue this afternoon.
