People's support not permanent

Thursday, 23 April 2009

THE Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is loved by a majority of the people of Bangladesh. It is reflected in the election results.
The emergency caretaker government wanted to finish the politics of Sheikh Hasina and the other major party. To this end, they lodged cases against her. But they committed some mistakes.
For this, people's love for Sheikh Hasina and her party have increased to a great extent.
If Sheikh Hasina wants to finish Khaleda Zia's politics, she will commit the same mistakes. The government's move to cancel the lease of the cantonment house of Khaleda Zia and file cases against the BNP bigwigs could prove politically counterproductive. When the students' wing of the ruling party is attacking the JCD, why should the victims be blamed for it. The old blame game should come to an end.
Out experience, or for that matter, the experience of other nations, also show that the people's support is not permanent for any political party.
