Pepsi-DRU Inter-house cricket begins

The Pepsi-DRU Six-a-side Inter-house Cricket Tournament, organised by Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) and sponsored by Transcom Beverages Ltd, began at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the city Saturday with seven matches decided on the opening day, reports UNB.
Inqilab (77/0) beat Jai Jai Din (73/4) by five wickets with Iqbal Hossain Chapal of the winning team getting the man of the match award while Karotoa (68/0) crushed The Financial Express (67/4) by the same margin with Arif Rahman clinching the man of the match award.
In the day's other matches, Bangla Bazar (66/0) beat Khabarpatra (29/3) by 37 runs, Channel i (85/2) defeated BSS (18/5) by 67 runs, Banglavision (100/0) outclassed Manab Zamin (14/5) by 86 runs while Jugantor (74/3) outplayed Desh Bangla (50/1) by 24 runs.
In another match, New Nation got walk over against Janakantha who did not turn up in the ground in due time.
Earlier, Transcom Beverages Ltd Executive Director and CEO Golam Quddus Chowdhury inaugurated the meet as the chief guest while Bangladesh Handball Federation General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor was present as special guest.
