Peru pip Paraguay in play-off

Andre Carrillo and Paolo Guerrero each scored second-half goals to help Peru defeat Paraguay 2-0 in the Copa America play-off match to decide the third place on Friday. Carrillo scored from just inside the penalty area in the 48th minute and Guerrero sealed the victory from close range in the 89th, giving Peru their second-straight third-place finish in the South American top football competition. Peru had beaten Venezuela 4-1 in the consolation game in the 2011 tournament in Argentina. Guerrero finished with four goals and is currently tied with Chile’s Eduardo Vargas. Peru were eliminated by hosts Chile in this year’s semifinals, while Paraguay lost to Argentina. Paraguay were runners-up to Uruguay in 2011, losing the final 3-0, according to news.yahoo.com
