Petition for strong law to stop question paper leaks
Tuesday, 10 June 2014
Supreme Court lawyer Younus Ali Akhand has filed a petition in the High Court, pitching for a stronger law to prevent question paper leaks. Akhand's petition, filed on Tuesday, seeks life sentence for the culprits involved with such leaks. The petition sought a rule as to why an order to come up with a law to prevent question paper leaks should not be issued. It also sought the High Court's intervention to constitute a Commission for a judicial probe into the recent allegations of question paper leaks in public exams. The secretaries of education, cabinet division, health, law and parliament secretariat, among others, have been listed as defendants in the petition. 'Leaking question papers is a serious crime. But, there's no specific law to check this kind of offence. That's why criminals are being encouraged to try their luck and get away with it,' Younus Ali Akhand said, according to bdnews24.com.
