Petition not needed for Khaleda Zia's release : Delwar
Sunday, 15 June 2008
No petition is needed for releasing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia but the procedure will be followed if she advises so, party Secretary General Khandker Delwar Hossain said Saturday, reports UNB.
He said recommendation of the medical board that Khaleda should be treated abroad is enough to release her.
Delwar was speaking to the new committee of Jatiyatabadi Muktijodda Dal that placed wreaths at the grave of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Saturday morning.
He said Khaleda Zia has already expressed her desire to receive medical treatment at home. The medical board formed by the government has recommended her treatment abroad. "Hence, there is no need for a separate petition to the court for her release," he added.
Delwar said, "Despite that if it is at all necessary, the petition will be made following instructions of the chairperson (Khaleda)."
He alleged that Khaleda has been kept under detention to serve the government's political purpose. "It's now the matter of the government under which process she will be released
