Pharmaceutical factory sealed off in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Sept 25 (BSS): A mobile court comprising the Chittagong District Administration (CDA) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) sealed off the factory of a pharmaceutical company on Thursday for marketing date-expired medicines and for not maintaining a hygienic environment in the factory.
CDA Executive Magistrate Rakib Hasan during the joint-drive at the city's Khulshi area also fined the 'Pharmik Laboratories' Tk 200,000 (2.0 lakh) and awarded two years' imprisonment to its manger.
Executive Magistrate Rakib Hasan told journalists that the factory was sealed off for manufacturing medicine without approval and reselling date expired medicines." The company has been cheating people by marketing date expired medicines through pasting new labels on them", he added.
