Philippine customs announces another new PSI

Thursday, 20 May 2010

The Philippine Bureau of Customs has issued a Customs Memorandum Order recently for a new Pre-Shipment Inspection programme for all bulk and break bulk goods shipped to the Philippines.
The programme will start on 27 May 2010 and there are no exemptions, said a press release.
This is the second time that Philippine Customs has availed of PSI programs to enhance revenue collections. For 13 years between 1987 and 2000, the Philippine Government engaged the services of SGS to conduct pre-shipment inspection of all imports into the Philippines to ensure that the correct duties and taxes were collected and to combat misdeclaration.
