Phoenix Insurance declares 30pc stock dividend

The 21st annual general meeting of the Phoenix Insurance Company Ltd was held in the city Wednesday, said a press release.
The company declared 30 per cent stock dividend for the shareholders for the year 2006.
Chairman of the company Mohammad Shoeb presided over the meeting.
Directors of the company Deen Mohammad, Abdur Rahman, Mobarak Ali, Md Habibar Rahman Mia, Mazharul Haque, Meherun Haque, Aziz-Al Mahmood, Badruddoza Mannan, Sadaf Shamsad Haque, Farhad Bin Mannan, Wasif Ahamed, Managing Director Pirjada Saifullah Chowdhury and a large number of shareholders were present in the meeting.
During the year 2006 the company earned a total premium of Tk 315.20 million Tk (31.52 crore) and pre tax profit of Tk 39.40 million (3.94 crore). Total asset of the company in the year 2006 was Tk 458.60 million (45.86 crore).
The shareholders of the company expressed their deep satisfaction over the performance and steady growth of the company in the face of an extremely adverse situation and unhealthy competition.
In the vacant post of directors from the sponsor-shareholders group Abdur Rahman, Wasif Ahamed, Meherun Haque and Sadia Anjum. Siddiqui were re-elected directors unopposed.
In the two vacant positions of the directors from the public shareholders Mohammad Shoeb and Abdul Khaleque Pathan were also elected directors unopposed.
The chairman profusely thanked all shareholders for their co-operation, thoughtful deliberations and valued suggestions.
