Physicians urged to be more dedicated in providing services to save lives

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque Sunday called upon the physicians to be more dedicated in providing emergency services to the people for saving lives, reports UNB.
"Physicians can save many lives by promptly providing emergency services according to our capability," he said while addressing the 2nd International Conference on Emergency Medicine at Milon Hall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the city.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Capt (retd) Mozibur Rahman Fakir, BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Pran Gopal Dutta, Director General of Health Services Prof Dr Shah Monir Hossain, President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Prof Mahmud Hasan, BMA UK unit President Dr Badrul Alam Siddique, and Prof Mirza Mazharul Islam, among others, also spoke at the session.
Recalling the great contribution of the BSMMU in the country's health sector, Dr Ruhal Haque said that the emergency unit of the BSMMU had been neglected for long, but the present government was giving special attention to make the unit work effectively.
"The emergency unit will be introduced soon at all district-level government hospitals to provide better emergency services to the ultra poor," he said.
The health minister stressed building up more experts in the country' s health sector through special training and higher education to introduce standard emergency units at more hospitals.
