Picnic bus slews off into Gaibandha ditch: 2 dead

Two madrasa students were killed and 21 others injured when a picnic bus carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch in Fulchhari upazila in Gaibandha district on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Moksedul Islam and Rakibul Islam Rakib, students of class VII and class X respectively. Gopal Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the bus with students of Konchipara Khobiria Dakhil Madrasa on a picnic skidded off into a ditch at Falia on Gaibandha-Konchipara Road when its driver lost control over the steering at about 8:45 pm. The two students dead on the spot and 21 others were injured in the accident, he added. The bus was on its way back to Gaibandha after ending the picnic at Swapnapuri Picnic Spot in Dinajpur. Seven of the injured picnickers were taken to Gaibandha Adhunik Hospital while others given first aid, according to UNB.
