Pinak-6 untraced on Day Four
Thursday, 7 August 2014
Rescue operations are continuing on Thursday to spot the sunken Pinak-6 launch after it went down in Padma River on Monday with more than 300 people on board. Tugboat ‘Kandari-2’, equipped with powerful search equipment, started looking for the double-decked launch on Wednesday midnight. Captain Manjur, at the helm of the search vessel, said that they are using a sonar scanner over an 8-kms radius since Thursday morning to locate the sunken ferry. ‘We had searched 6-kilometre downstream from Chandpur to Mawa, but could not find the vessel,’ he said. The Navy, fire service and coast guard are also involved in the operation. After three days of failed attempts to spot Pinak-6, rescuers are hoping that the equipment on board Kandari-2 will provide a breakthrough, according to bdnews24.com.
