Pirate ringleader slaughtered

The ringleader of a pirate gang was slaughtered at Mahespur village in Begumganj Upazila in Noakhali district on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Nasiruddin Nashu, 35, the chief of ‘Nashu Bahini’ and son of late Majibul Haque of the area. Locals said a group of masked criminals swooped on Nashu around 8pm while he was sitting at a shop at Rastarhat Bazar. The attackers chopped him indiscriminately and fled the scene after slaughtering him. Officer-in-charge of Begumganj Police Station Ainul Haque said they recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Noakhali Medical College Hospital for autopsy, according to a news agency.
