Pirates abduct 18 fishermen

Pirates abducted 18 fishermen from Sangu Gas Field area early Tuesday morning and place a ransom demand of Tk 0.3million for their release.
President of Hatiya Fishing Boat Owners Association Rashed Miah said 18 fishermen went out for fishing in the deep sea from Surjamukhi Ghat on Monday night.
Pirates attacked and held them at about 4am when they were returning to Hatiya with their catch.
After assaulting the fishermen, the abductors also placed their ransom demand from the boat owners.
Hatiya Coast Guard Station Commander Lieutenant Tanvir Ahmed said they have received the information when they were patrolling near Nijhum Dwip of Hatiya.
