Pirates kidnap 14 fishermen

A gang of pirates kidnapped 14 fishermen who were fishing in Bay near Chargangamati in Kuakata in Patuakhali district on Tuesday morning. Witnesses and local fishermen said the 14 fishermen were catching fish with two trawlers in the water off Chargangamati coasts. A gang of 19 pirates swooped on their trawlers around 10:30am. The robbers then beat the fishermen and dragged them into one of the two trawlers used by the victims and sailed to deep sea. Confirming the news, Sub-inspector of Kuakata Naval police outpost Sanjay Mandal said the bandits robbed the two trawlers and kidnapped the 14 fishermen who hail from different villages of Kuakata, according to a news agency.
