Pirates loot fishing boats in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR, Dec 19 (UNB): Pirates swooped on five fishing boats and looted fishing nets and engines worth Tk 0.1 million (one lakh) in the river Meghna near Char Abdullah in Ramgati Upazila Thursday.
The affected fishermen said a gang of armed pirates coming in a boat in the afternoon attacked them beating them up indiscriminately.
They said the pirates then looted their nets and engines at gunpoint before fleeing from the place. A case was filed in this connection.
