Pitha ceremony held in Narail

JHENIDAH, Jan 28: A day-long pie (pitha) ceremony with a display of a variety of pies including Bhapa, Rosochitai and Kuli, was held in Amada Ideal College premises under Lohagara upazila of Narail on Saturday.
Ad Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, Member of Parliament (MP) of Narail-2 constituency inaugurated the pie ceremony cutting red tap at 11 am on the day.
Chaired by President of Governing Body (GP) of the college and Lohagara upazila chairman Sikdar Abdul Hannan, the function was addressed by Register General (rtd.) Munsi Nazrul Islam, upazial Alwami League president Ad Doulat Ahmed Khan, Pouro AL president Kazi Bani Amin, upazila AL organizing secretary and Noyagram UP chairman Syed Fazlul Amir Lity, Principal of the college Al Faysal Khan, Kazi Sirajul Islam, Assistant Professor of Homeopathic College and Hospital Dr. Mafizur Rahman, Editor of The Narail Kantho Kazi Hafizur Rahman, upazila president of Civic Committee Kamruzzam Khan, among others.
The speakers observed that pie ceremony was an exceptional one in the order of the Bangalees' age-worn tradition.
At the end of the inauguration the chief guest along with other guests moved around the stalls and enjoyed the nice arrays of the pies.
Besides, singer Khalid Shawn and Shital enchanted the audiences with cadence of music while other artists including Mim and Orin performed dance on the occasion. A large number of audiences enjoyed the cultural function.
