Pitiable condition of treatment at DMCH
Friday, 12 December 2014
Last week I had to go to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) along with my friend's relative who was suffering from stomach pain. We somehow managed a ticket but failed to manage a bed. One of the cleaners came to us and asked for some money for a bed. The condition of our patient was very critical and we had to give in to the illegal demand. After a couple of hours, a visiting doctor came and examined the patient. He gave some urgent test and suggested that it would be better if we consulted a private medical representative available there as the DMCH X-ray and other services may take long to provide the reports.
We requested him to make our prescription urgent. But he replied that it would have no effect. What a pitiable condition of treatment in DMCH! We felt absolutely helpless but by the grace of God we finally got the treatment. Needless to say that the DMCH is the largest medical facility of the country. Its annual budget is higher than any other medical college. But why do the poor patients have to consult private medical representative to seek treatment which has now become a prime concern at every government hospitals.
