PKSF, AIS sign MoU to disseminate technical issues of farming

PKSF and AIS have entered into a cooperative arrangement with each other by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to disseminate technical issues of farming and success stories of the farmers benefited by the microfinance programme of PKSF by telecasting programmes in electronic media.

General Manager (Admin) of the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) MA Hakim and Director of the Agriculture Information Service (AIS) Md Nazrul Islam signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations in the city recently, said a press release.

Adviser for Agriculture and Water Resources CS Karim was present at the MoU signing ceremony.

Under the deal, the AIS will assist the PKSF in producing news and documentary films based on the technical issues of farming and success stories of the farmers of the partner organisations of the PKSF which will help in increasing agricultural productivity, improving nutritional status and alleviating poverty.

PKSF, a 'not for profit' apex microfinance organisation established to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life of the poor through the provision of microcredit and other financial and institution building assistance to the organisations implementing microfinance programme.

The PKSF has provided Tk 3,62,609.12 million as loan until May, 2008 to the poor households in 64 districts across the country through its 255 partner organisations (POs), the release added.
