Friday, 9 February 2024

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) hosted a three-day 'Shuponno Somahar: Environment-friendly Microenterprise Fair 2024' that began at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on Thursday, under its Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP).
The fair will end on February 10, says a statement.
Dr M Khairul Hossain, Chairman of PKSF, inaugurated and presided over the fair while Dr Nomita Halder, Managing Director of PKSF, delivered the welcome speech.
Md Fazlul Kader, Additional Managing Director of PKSF, discussed the context of the fair and S M Ferdous Alam, Director General of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI), delivered a special speech on 'Government's Support in Microenterprise Sector.'
Dr M Khairul Hossain, in his inaugural speech, said, "PKSF has addressed the need of multidimensional poverty alleviation. It is implementing various programs and projects across the country through its partner organizations by providing financial and technical support."
In her welcome speech, Dr Nomita Halder said, "PKSF promotes best environmental practices in its all activities."
She added that the SEP had helped the microenterprises to produce all the products in an environment-friendly manner.
Md Fazlul Kader said, "PKSF is working to change the condition of the low-income people by creating a conducive environment. It is also promoting and developing brands of the environmentally sustainable microenterprises."
S M Ferdous Alam said that micro-entrepreneurs should stand to develop the society as they were future industrialists who would create thousands of jobs.
The SEP is jointly funded by the PKSF and the World Bank. The objective of this project is to increase the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices among designated microenterprises.
The Project provided financial and technical supports to over 65 thousand microenterprises across 37 districts of the country through its 64 sub-projects implemented by 47 partner organizations of PKSF.
PKSF has been implementing the SEP since 2018 to support the production and marketing of high-quality value-added products by adopting environmental best practices in the microenterprise sector of the country.
The fair is organised to promote product marketing produced by the Project-supported micro-entrepreneurs.
