FE REPORT | Wednesday, 24 June 2026

PKSF has increased its financing target by 45.34 per cent for the fiscal year (FY) 2026-27 to accelerate employment creation in the country.
Prioritising skills development, employment generation, and sustainable economic growth for low-income people, PKSF has approved the financing target of Tk 160 billion for FY 2026-27, representing a 45.34 per cent increase over the outgoing FY.
The budget and the annual work plan were approved at a meeting of PKSF's general body at PKSF Bhaban in the city's Agargaon area on Tuesday, said in a statement.
The meeting provided necessary directions for effective utilisation of the Bangladesh Bank incentive fund, allocated for development of the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise (CMSME) sector, which is expected to facilitate disbursement of an additional Tk 50 billion.
The meeting also emphasised microenterprise development, skills enhancement, and productive employment generation. Alongside conventional financing, PKSF will strengthen sustainable employment and entrepreneurship through blended financing approaches combining skills development, innovation, debt finance and equity finance.
Besides, focus will also be on the creative economy and climate adaptation initiatives. Particular attention will be given to expanding skills training, entrepreneurship development and market linkage initiatives for youth, women and marginalised communities.
At the same time, research activities supporting poverty reduction, skills development and employment generation will be further strengthened.
These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to increasing productive employment and creating a more enabling environment for entrepreneurship.
Earlier on the day, a meeting of the PKSF governing body was also held. Both meetings were chaired by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan.
