Pl, sit for exams and compete with students: PM to exam critics
Monday, 19 May 2014
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has flayed those who questioned the ‘quality’ of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations results. She said the ‘critics’ should be made to sit for the exams with the students. ‘Please, you appear at centres set up for the SSC and the equivalent examinations and sit for the exams,’ the Prime Minister has coming down hard on those who expressed skepticism about the high rate of successes in the tests. The results of this year’s SSC and equivalent exams were published yesterday with a pass rate of 91.34 per cent. Sheikh Hasina said she saw in the newspapers that some people had expressed their scepticism about the quality of education, though the pass rate had gone up. ‘I think those who said these things, should be made to compete with the students,’ reiterated the premier lashing out at the critics on Sunday afternoon. ‘What kind of mentality is this? They should be happy that so many students passed. Quality will not come overnight. We are trying.’ Hasina said adding: ‘There are some people in our country who are unable to appreciate anything good,’ according to bdnews24.com.
