Monday, 25 August 2014

The country's noted educationists have urged the people, especially the students and teachers, to plant trees to improve environment and build a safer planet for the next generations. The call came at a programme titled, ‘Tree Plantation Campaign-2014’ held at Begum Rokeya University campus in Rangpur on Sunday. Initiated by the students of the Department of Bengali of the university, the students and teachers of the university planted saplings and trees in different parts of the campus to make it a environment friendly, safer and more beautiful place. Vice Chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi spoke on the occasion. He led the campaign to plant saplings encouraging the students for forestation. Addressing the programme he said there is no alternative to forestation through tree plantation to create an eco-friendly and eye-catching green nature for coping with the adverse impacts of climate change and bringing ecological equilibrium for sustainable economic uplift, according to a news agency.
