Plea to reject war criminals in upcoming elections

Sunday, 21 December 2008

Speakers at a press conference Saturday urged the voters to turn down the war criminals in the coming parliamentary elections, as they were a threat to sovereignty and independence of the country, reports UNB.
Uttaradikar '71, an organisation formed by the children of freedom fighters studying in the Dhaka University (DU), held the press conference at Madhu's Canteen.
President of the organisation Abdullah Al Harun Rasel and secretary Abu Taiyab Habildar also spoke on the occasion.
Abdullah Rasel said as the war criminals were not tried on time they continued their efforts to make Bangladesh a subservient country of Pakistan.
Demanding trial of war criminals, he urged the voters to give their verdict against the war criminals in the coming election.
Abu Taiyab Habildar said using the name of Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami formed such evil forces like Rajakar, Al-Badar and Al-Shams during the liberation war and killed thousands of people.
With the help of Pakistani occupation forces they had harassed and repressed nearly four hundred thousand Bangladeshi women, he said.
He called upon all voters to reject the war criminals in the polls.
