Plea to strengthen Zakat management activities

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and Center for Zakat Management (CZM) jointly organised a seminar on “Exploring Potential of Zakat and its Institutionalised Management” at DCCI Saturday. Chairman of DCCI Foundation and Anwar Group of Industries Alhaj Anwar Hossain was present as chief guest at the seminar. DCCI President Mohammad Shahjahan Khan in his address of welcome urged to ensure proper utilisation of Zakat fund for poverty alleviation, economic development and standard of living. He also urged for strengthening Zakat management activities and institutions. He said if zakat is collected properly, poverty will be alleviated from the society and it has an positive impact on our economy. Chairman of DCCI Foundation and Anwar Group of Industries Alhaj Anwar Hossain said that the almighty Allah makes Zakat mandatory for the rich Muslims as a tool for poverty alleviation from the society. He put thrust on collecting and managing Zakat in a planned manner. He also emphasized that poor relatives and well-acquainted persons should get priority to receive zakat fund, according to a statement.
