Please cancel Bangla-Pak matches to honour our martyrs
Sunday, 11 December 2011
The month of December in 1971 is a red-letter month in the history of our Liberation War. After a bloody nine month war we achieved final victory on December 16th against the occupation Pakistan Army. Bangladesh thus came into being through a shedding of the holy blood of the martyrs.
The occupation Pakistan Army committed massacres in every corner in our country. They had also indulged in heinous crimes like raping, looting, and arsons during the war.
We, the people of Bangladesh are deeply shocked that our government is allowing the playing of cricket matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh in this historic month.
As a member of a Shaheed (martyr) family, I earnestly request our democratic government to cancel the present match and ensure that no such matches are allowed in the historic months of March and December, honouring the souls of our martyrs.
