Plight of Haj pilgrims

THE problems facing the Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims this year were least expected during the tenure of this caretaker government. Reports in the media said that many Hajj pilgrims had complained of non-cooperation and mismanagement. They have put the blame for this state of affairs on the representative of the government of Bangladesh there in Saudi Arabia. The Bangladeshi pilgrims also staged a demonstration at Misafula to protest against alleged mismanagement in renting of accommodation facilities and other related arrangements.
In this context, a good number of Hajj pilgrims have requested the Chief Adviser to send an investigation team immediately to Saudi Arabia to look into the alleged irregularities. We believe that the office of the Chief Adviser would look into the matter. This will send the right signal to all concerned about the government's concern over the welfare of Hajj pilgrims.
