Monday, 14 April 2014
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has refused to accept the proposal for naming Faridpur Medical College after her, said Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain. “She (Hasina) politely said there’s no need to name (Faridpur) Medical College after her. So, the current name of the college will remain unchanged,” said Khanadker Mosharraf Hossain while speaking at the FMC management committee meeting yesterday. A proposal was placed at the FMC management committee meeting held on May 19, 2011, to rename the college after Sheikh Hasina. Mentioning that patients are falling victims to harassment at the college hospital, Khandaker Mosharraf said he has asked the authorities concerned to free the hospital from brokers. He also directed the Faridpur Police Super to take necessary steps in this regard, according to UNB.
