PM asks AL men to work for people's welfare

TAHIRPUR, Sunamganj, Nov 10 (BSS): Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has asked the leaders and activists of ruling Awami League (AL) to work for people's welfare with a sacrificing attitude.
"You are followers of the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, work for the people with a spirit of sacrifice discarding the attitude of gaining something," the PM told an opinion exchange meeting with her party's district and upazila level leaders and activists here today.
Sheikh Hasina also urged the party activists at grassroots level to recall Bangabandhu's "entire life of sacrifice" for the welfare and happiness of the people.
The premier asked them to stand by the people at grassroots level during their miseries and try to revolve their problems.
The PM said that her government was relentlessly working for the benefit of the ordinary people as she listed the landmark initiatives and achievements of the ruling AL in different sectors including education, health, energy and information and communication technology (ICT).
Sheikh Hasina said during the past two years of tenure, the incumbent government already added 1,000 megawatt power to the national grid and another 465 megawatt was set to be added by the year end as part of the planned generation of 7,000 mw electricity installing new units.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Agriculture Minister Motia Chowdhury, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law Suranjit Sengupta and Awami League's Organizing Secretary Advocate Mesbahuddin Siraj, among others, were present at the meeting.
