PM asks to expand Girls Guide movement upto grassroots level

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Saturday urged all concerned including the Ministry of Education to take necessary steps for expanding Girls Guide movement upto grassroots level to groom up the new generation as an efficient and capable one, reports BSS.
"We have to expand Girls Guide movement across the country to groom up our new generation as future leaders in national and international arena by flourishing their physical and mental health and talents," she said.
The PM said this while inaugurating the 100-year celebration programmes of 'World Girls Guide and Girl Scouts' at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city.
Among others, Deputy Leader of the House and former National Commissioner of Bangladesh Girls Guide Association Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and Convener of Programme Celebration Committee Prof Yamin Ahmed also spoke on the occasion with National Commissioner of the Association Fulrani Sarkar in the chair.
Mentioning the theme of this year's World Girls Guide and Girl Scouts " We Can Change the World", Sheikh Hasina expressed the hope that the theme would help carry forward the thinking and planning of the guides ahead.
Referring to her party's election manifesto "Charter of Change", she said her government wanted to establish a happy and prosperous Bangladesh free from hunger and poverty by implementing its election pledges.
"Our government is working relentlessly with the objective after assuming office through the last general election," Sheikh Hasina added.
